Pathways to Health & Wellbeing

The Karori Sanctuary (Zealandia) has always been a place of key importance for both Pākehā and Māori alike. This project involves the generation of strategies and design principles to inform the development of a potential constructed landscape at Zealandia. It involves the exploration of the potential of Zealandia lands outside of the fenced area for use as a pathway to facilitate the well-being of the elderly and/or disadvantaged people while incorporating the conservation of mātauranga Māori and exploiting the opportunities for health that nature and environment presents. This project aims to set a foundation incorporating the ideologies of te taha wairua/hinengaro/tinana/whanau looking at the use of traditional practices such as rongoa & healing (mirimiri, romiromi, honohono)
