Ngā Aho as a body will develop Treaty-based relationships with existing professional bodies including NZIA (New Zealand Institute of Architects), NZILA (New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects), and others with a view to normalizing a kaupapa Maori approach to design and architecture in Aotearoa/New Zealand.

1. A body which liaises directly with existing professional bodies including the NZIA, NZILA, Papa Pounamu, DINZ and other professional design and planning entities for the benefit of our communities of interest
2. Ngā Aho will act in an advisory, lobbying, and advocacy capacity to National, Regional and Local government in all matters of the built environment concerning Māori.
3. A support role for both students and staff in addressing the needs of Māori design disciplines in Aotearoa.
4. A support role in facilitating the growth and development of "Māori design disciplines" - specifically support of practitioners directly involved in the field of delivering relevant architecture to the Maori community.
5. To create a physical/ built environment that begins to truly reflect Māori values, tikanga, and cultural aspirations.
