Whare Ora

This is an affordable housing project located in Kaitaia that I am currently working on in collaboration with He Korowai Trust.  It  is aimed at supporting low income families who currently live in substandard houses. It also supports the wider  local community through establishing a safe and healthy place to live.

Instead of following a Eurocentric model of subdivision, Whare Ora provides an alternative model of affordable housing focused on the community and shared spaces such as a centralised communal garden. The whole development is also underpinned by the provision of community services, health care education and financial support.
