My name is Cameron Hynd, I am a Māori Designer specialising in the implementation of Mātauranga and Tikanga into Architecture. I have specialised in this through University to Professionally within an award-winning Architecture firm.

I work with my directors in an advisory sense working with local councils and Mana Whenua toward the best way to represent narrative and our values and how this is communicated through public works. I am currently involved in two large scale projects and have provided input to two tender proposals since starting the role as well as rolling out a roadmap for our staff to have a better understanding within our office.

I also used this as the focus of my recently completed thesis in which I researched and designed a settlement purely focussed on use of Maori values having subtracted elements of colonial vernaculars that are commonly seen in new Zealand architecture.

My overall goal of my professional work and likely further study is to assist my culture in revitalising a contemporary identity that responds to Maori both aesthetically but more importantly, pragmatically.
