Kia ora tatou,

I am from Rangiahua in the Hokianga and moved to Auckland to pursue a higher education in 2009 and have recently completed a Master of Architecture (Prof.) at Unitec.

I am attracted to design which shows strong connection to context; physical, social, historical, ecological and economical because I believe that building design needs to show a logic, meaning and honesty. These considerations are key in ensuring the positive impact that design can have on the people who use it, the people who produce it and the world we live in.

The development of my personal knowledge, involvement and experiences in Māori culture and design is also very important to me. I believe that ensuring Kaupapa Maori and Tikanga Maori are instilled not only in our everyday lives but in the architecture and design we use, will preserve the continuation of Matauranga Maori as a distinct and critical part of a modern culture and society.

I have recently been appointed the position of Ngā Aho Events Co-ordinator.
