Tena koutou katoa ko Te Pio Kawe ahau no Tauranga Moana Tauranga Tangata.

I am a Te Hihiri Associate Principal with Boffa Miskell Limited (BML) an environment planning, landscape, Maori culture and ecology consultancy company based in Tauranga.

I hold a Bachelor of Business Studies (Property Management and Development) from Massey University (1986). I was employed by Housing Corporation of NZ in Hamilton from 1986 to 1992 as a Maori Advisory officer to implement the corporation’s papakainga housing loans on multiple owned Maori lands in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions.

I am a member of the Te Hihiri whanau, a team of Maori practitioners in Boffa Miskell Ltd (BML). I hold the position of Kaiarataki Te Hihiri / Strategic Advisor in Tauranga Moana and have been with BML since August 2002. I have worked on various projects with Maori land trusts, whanau, hapu, Iwi and Runanga as well as territorial authorities on Maori land development issues.

• I was the Chairman of the SmartGrowth Combined Tangata Whenua Forum and the Tu Pakari Governance Advisor to the Tangata Whenua representatives on SmartGrowth Implementation Committee from 2004 - 2010;
• Planning and technical advisor for the Tauwhao & Te Ngare Trust - Rangiwaea Island Marae papakainga development 2008 - 2010
• The Tangata Whenua Advisor to Tauranga City Council District during the TCC Plan Review 2008 - 2010.
• Author of the TECT All Terrain Park Cultural Assessment Report Dec 2008.
• Member of the Joint Agency Group supporting the Makahae Marae papakainga project in Te Puke and the development of the Te Keteparaha mo nga Papakainga (Maori Housing Toolkit).
