I am currently doing a masters degree in Design at Victoria University in Wellington looking at contemporary ways to express Maori narratives, weather its furniture of products.
I have also been a member of the Āwhina Whānau for 10 years. Āwhina is about people and collective success. The kaupapa of Āwhina is to produce Maori and Pacific science, engineering, architecture and design professionals who will go on to contribute to the development of their communities. Some of this work includes outreach programmes where students and staff of Āwhina go out to schools and communities to educate whānau and rangatahi about tertiary education in the Āwhina disciplines.
I have worked in London and Japan but love being home in Aotearoa. I have also received a creative New Zealand Grant in 2008 along with 2 other Victoria university alumni and am currently working on some exhibition pieces at the moment.
