ver the past three years I have been working with Ngai Tahu, South Island Polytechnics, Industry Training Organisations and large construction companies (Citycare, Hawkins, Downer, KiwiRail etc) trying to improve Maori skill, education and employment outcomes, including a design project to create more Maori engineers and improve careers advice to whanau. I am still working with a couple of organisations on advancing supplier diversity and social procurement in projects, regions and nationally.

Current work and a bit about me and the whanau
I am leading a small research project with the Maori communities in Kaikoura and Hurunui (with CDHB and mental health foundation funding) to look at psychosocial wellbeing, agency responses and community vision building that will be complete in the next couple of months. I am also helping project manage and evaluation design a community/whanau reo revitalisation project in Otautahi with Korotangi Ltd

I am keen to do work locally, regionally and nationally that has impact as are my colleagues who collaborate with me as part of our newly established Karearea: Institute for Change (sounds probably a wee bit flasher than it is, which is a group of people I love who have mad skills and a passion to make the world a better place).

I am a trained and accredited PATH and Tetramap facilitator and am adding Lego Serious Play to that portfolio of tools this month I am currently enrolled in my Doctorate of Professional Practice at Otago Polytechnic focussing on indigenous social innovation and looking to create a National Weather Network focussing on data commons and social good.

My husband James Morrison (Ngai Tahu) is a weather forecaster (Weatherstation - specialising in frost forecasting for wineries and growers in Hawkes Bay, Central Otago and Marlborough and a restorative justice co-ordinator. We have three boys - Atarau is 23 and doing amazing youth work in Napier. Tamaterangi is in his final year at Cashmere High and is looking to do engineering (yay!) if he can pick up his calculus grades and Potiki (11) is at Whanau Tahi (Kura Kaupapa) and a mad keen cricketer.

I love useful strategy, design, evaluation, research, people, multidisciplinary/integrated problem solving, capacity building, learning, disrupting inequitable power and privilege, good food, and great coffee!
