Cassandra Barnett is a writer and art theorist and has publised her work in a range of publications including World Art (Routledge), Landfall, eyeline and Art News New Zealand. She has worked as a Lecturer in Unitec's Design and Visual Arts Department since 2005, and currently supervises Masters students on the Awatoru programme. Prior to Unitec she was a Lecturer in Media Arts at Wintec in Hamilton and editor of A Ramp Magazine. She recently submitted her PhD thesis entitled 'Song of Seeing Hands: Taonga and Tupuna / Art and Ancestors in Aotearoa New Zealand'.
