George Clarke (Ngāti Porou, Te Aupōuri, Te Rarawa, Ngāpuhi) is a registered architect and is the founder and director of GMC Architects. He has over 35 years of experience and is one of the few registered Māori architects in practice in Aotearoa. George gained his degree in architecture at the University of Auckland. He established himself in private practice in 1987, and his self-discipline toward architecture and strong whānau values have carried on to this day. George maintains a passion for producing great architectural outcomes and leads a talented team at GMC in designing and documenting projects which relate to the local environment and cultural qualities and values.

Jade Kake (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Whakaue, Te Whakatōhea) is an architect, writer, and Māori housing policy specialist. She leads a small team at Matakohe Architecture and
Urbanism, a Whangārei-based kaupapa Māori design studio which she founded in mid-2018. Matakohe works with Māori organisations on their marae, papakāinga and civic projects, and with mana whenua groups to express their cultural values and narratives through the design of their physical environments.

Olivia recently worked as Principal Urban Design consultant for Jacobs across infrastructural schemes in Australia and New Zealand. Olivia (Ngāti Manuhiri, Ngāti Wai, Ngāti Ruanui) provides Urban and Māori design guidance across a broad range of projects. Olivia has been involved in transformational city projects, master-planning, urban design strategy, and civic and urban design. Her main area of focus and expertise is that of embedding and supporting Mana Whenua values, mātauranga-a-iwi, into design and programme outcomes. She has around 22 years’ design experience in the fields of the public realm, infrastructure, healthcare, and transport.

Richard is a landscape architect with 18 years experience in local government and private practice. He descends from Ngāti Kahungungu, Ngāi Tūhoe and Tongan descent, and has worked on a wide range of open space and urban renewal projects across Taranaki and Tāmaki Makaurau. Richard has lectured part-time and has co-ordinated the Landscape of Aotearoa course in the Department of Landscape Architecture at Unitec.

Carin Wilson (Mataatua, Ngati Awa, Tuhourangi) is the Kaihautu of Studio Pasifika. His advocacy for Māori participation in urban development led to the adoption of the Te Aranga design framework for instituting a cultural and ethical perspective. As an acknowledged practitioner-thinker he has developed a practise-led indigenous philosophy of design to ensure an indigenous presence in urban environments in Aotearoa-New Zealand. This place-based approach ensures heritage values and matauranga knowledge systems are an active and necessary contributor to the evolving identity of our towns and cities as they confront a complex suite of contemporary global challenges.
