Nau mai! Join us for Te Whakaanamata: Māori Architecture and Design Wānanga 2026 – a Ngā Aho Inc. Kora Session by Te Paepaeroa.

Following the success of our inaugural Māori Architecture and Design Symposium – Te Whakaturanga – in 2025, Te Paepaeroa (the Māori Architecture and Design Students' Association at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington) returns in 2026 with a new kaupapa, this time in collaboration with Ngā Aho Inc.

Together, under the shared kaupapa of Designing Māori Futures, we invite you to a Kora session: an evening of short kōrero followed by a facilitated panel conversation exploring what it means to design Māori futures in whakapapa-centred ways.

Kaupapa o te wānanga:

• How can tikanga and whakaaro Māori influence the way we design for the future?
• What does it mean to design as a future tūpuna?

Format

Each kaikōrero will share a 5-10 minute PechaKucha-style kōrero before joining a facilitated panel discussion. Approx. 1.5 hours total.

Koha

This event is free to attend. A koha basket will be available with the koha going towards Te Paepaeroa, supporting Māori students in the design and architecture school through course-related resources, study sessions, and mentoring.

Who is this for?

Tauira, kaimahi, professionals and anyone with an interest in Māori architecture, design, and futures thinking. Open to the wider Te Herenga Waka, Ngā Aho and design community.
