Beachlands Maraetai Walkway

As Project Manager for the implementation of this walkway, a number of stakeholders with conflicting values had to be considered - not the least to acknowledge and provide a platform to 'tell the stories' of Ngai Tai ki Tamaki as an element and character within this changing landscape. Walkways in their simplest terms connect A to B, but the users experience can be enhanced by subtle reference to the way that walkway moves people through its landscape. The landscape of the Beachlands Maraetai coast is rich with stories both old and new, and through a very formalised recreational element ie a walkway, many of those old stories are uncovered.
